Agneta has more than 7 years of experience in the field of intellectual property. Since 2018 she is acting as a professional patent attorney and is an EQE candidate. Agneta works on descriptions of patent applications and drafting of claims, represents Latvian and foreign clients before the Latvian Patent Office, performs patent searches and freedom to operate analysis, as well as patentability assessments in the field of life sciences.

Agneta also performs validations of granted European patents in the contracting states of the European Patent Convention (EPC). By entrusting Agneta with validation of a European patent in Latvia, the client can be assured that a high quality translation of patent claims will be provided – Agneta is one of the leading translators in the field of patents in Latvia. In 2020 she represented 19% of all European patents validated in Latvia.

To advance her competences in material science Agneta continues her academic path through PhD studies at Riga Technical University, where she specialises in biomaterials.

Agneta regularly furthers her knowledge by taking part in different seminars and courses. She has participated in EQE seminars organized by Centre d’études internationales de la propriété intellectuelle (CEIPI), as well as DeltaPatents. Agneta has attended various qualification courses, including CEIPI “Basic Course on Patents”, WIPO Academy Distance learning courses and EPA distance learning courses such as “Advanced Course on Patents”; “Patenting Biotechnological Inventions”; “Systematic approach to patent search” “Opposition procedure at the EPO”, “Clarity and unity: analysis of patent applications” “The European patent system from filing to grant”, “Drafting written opinions: practice at the EPO”, Advanced training course on patent search and examination in the field of biotechnology”.
